Workforce Training works for you

Hendry County School District’s Workforce Training and Adult Education continues to thrive. Throughout the past years, our career programs, along with GED and ESOL training, continue to be one of the best rural programs in the state. In many smaller areas, finding resources and great instructors may be hard to find, but in Hendry County, we are blessed, we have a great staff. Our students who work through our classes get what they are looking for and more. Our teachers connect with students, and help them obtain industry credentials (certifications), GED credentialing, and acquisition of the English Language.

Beginning on the Jan. 18, we start our newest CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) course, which have impact instructors helping students gain credentials, which offer immediate job skills, and foundations for advanced medical training. These classes are close to being full, but are offered each term or semester. One of our hopes is to offer summer programs as well.

Our Winter term kicks off this week (Jan. 10 for most), with great excitement. Not only will our students receive training in the English Language, or prepare for their GED, but we are offering Career Orientation (employment skills, resumes, etc.), Financial Literacy with the Dave Ramsey Program, and digital literacy leading to an industry certification. This is a new for us, and gives our students a lot for a low fee of $35. These is a great bundle of skills. There is a lot to gain in these classes.

In LaBelle, our GED and ESOL courses are offered during the day, and again at night. Clewiston on the other hand, is currently running night classes only. Our LaBelle GED courses run from 8:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursdays. Our LaBelle ESOL meets Monday and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Our night classes in both Clewiston and LaBelle operate from 6 to 9 p.m, with both GED and ESOL Programs. We also offer an ESOL Virtual Class if that is what you are looking for to balance your schedule.

In Clewiston, we offer day programs in both diesel mechanics and welding with top of the line leadership. These courses begin each August, and last until the end of the school year. Our Night HVAC programs also run in both Clewiston and LaBelle, and they too, begin in the fall. Each fall, we also offer a E-911 Public Dispatch course for students interested in this area as well. If interested in these programs, we suggest you check out our webpage at http://hendryadultlearning.org/admissions. In coming weeks, we will offering a security guard course as well. This is a course that’s run in the past years, and now, we prepare to offer it again with great instructors.

We have great support from the FutureMakers Coalition of Southwest Florida, Career Source of Southwest Florida, Hendry County Economic Development, and many businesses, who are looking to hire skilled employees.

Our dedicated staff is always ready to help anyone with needed training. If we don’t offer it, and can pull it off, we will attempt to do it. Beginning soon, and surely this fall, we will be offering transportation for high school students to take dual enrollment programs across the county - another win-win for you!
