MIAMI - WWII veteran Sidney Walton, 102, kicks off the last leg of his campaign in downtown Miami, June 28, 10-10:30 a.m., in front of Intercontinental Hotel at Bayfront Park. Guests include Sen. Rick Scott's district director Christine, Miami Mayor Suarez, Rep. Eddy Leal, Rabbi Mark Rosenberg, Intercontinental Hotel GM Glenn Sampert, Dolphins Senior VP Jason Jenkins, Marlins Rep. Angela Smith, and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (invited).

Sidney chose to start the campaign in Miami in honor of his father who is buried in Miami and lived in Miami Beach in his retirement. The ceremony and remainder of the tour will be filmed by Tenacity Entertainment for a documentary. After the event the Florida Highway Patrol will escort Sidney to commemorative ceremonies in the following cities: Fort Lauderdale - Mayor Dean Trantalis, Hyatt Centric @ Bubier Park, 12:15 p.m. Boca Raton - Mayor Scott Singer, City Hall, 2:00 p.m. West Palm Beach - Palm Beach County Mayor Dave Kerner, County Administration Bldg, 301 North Olive Ave, 3:15 p.m.  Melbourne - Mayor Paul Alfrey, Military Memorial Park, 1601 Oak Street, 5:30 p.m.  Orlando - Orange County Mayor Jerry L. Demings, Orange County Admin Bldg., 201 S. Rosalind Avenue, 7:00 p.m.  Tallahassee - Capitol, June 29 Thursday,

July 1,  at 9:30 a.m., Sidney will meet with Gov. Kay Ivey in Montgomery, Alabama which will be Sidney's 37th state and governor on his No Regrets Tour.

Sidney Walton, one of the country's last WWII vets, has been on a No Regrets Tour of all 50 states and governors raising awareness of our veterans who have sacrificed so much for our country. The tour has given people a chance to meet a WWII veteran before they're all gone, as Sidney regrets missing an opportunity to meet some of the last Civil War

veterans in New York City, where he grew up.

For the past 60 years Sidney has lived in San Diego. This past year Sidney realized we have been fighting a new type of enemy – a deadly virus. In just one-year COVID-19 has killed more than twice the number of Americans who died in all of WWII. That’s 600,000 deaths!

Inspired by Captain Tom Moore, the 100-yr-old WWII veteran in England who raised $46 million for the UK's National Health Services, Sidney has dramatically changed the focus of his tour to raise money for the new battle heroes, frontline nurses. Every dollar raised in the last leg of his tour - 14 states and governors - will be donated to the American Nurses Foundation's "Coronavirus Response Fund for Nurses."

Sidney’s goal is to raise $1 more than Moore. Given that the US has five times the population of the UK he believes we can do it!

Katie McNaughton of the Captain Tom Foundation in the UK applauds Sidney's mission: "Captain Sir Tom and his family are very grateful for your support. We wish your father success in completing his amazing mission. Good luck Sidney!" This is the second pandemic in Sidney's lifetime - he was born during the Spanish flu.

He and Captain Tom Moore served in the same theater of war during WWII - China-Burma-India. Sadly, Captain Moore died of COVID-19 earlier this year. Sidney will be riding in his 2020 newly wrapped Buick Enclave, which will be unveiled for the FIRST TIME at the kick-off in Miami .

He will visit these 14 remaining states: Alabama, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Colorado, Kansas, South Dakota, North Dakota,  Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, Ohio, West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Delaware.
