The Young Mother of the Year Award, was bestowed upon Sis. Sandy Portillo, who is an extremely hard working mom of 3 beautiful children, and soon to be four. Sandy is not only a faithful and beloved member of Allen Chapel, but she is also highly respected and loved by her entire family. The Senior Mother of the Year Award was earned by Sis. Claricia Achille. Sis. Achille is highly revered by her family because of the many years she worked in the packing houses of Immokalee, and still made sure that her single-parent family never went without and she never complained. She is an awesome cook, a loving grandmother and a caring person. This year, Pastor Lori Snell created a new award, The Mother of Valor, which is given to mothers who have shown courage in the face of extreme physical, social or financial difficulties. This award was given to Sis. Vincine Anderson, a recent cancer patient, who has undergone a double mastectomy. Sis. Vincine is one of Allen Chapel’s newest members, who came in thirsty for the presence of God in her life. She is a young mother, who is also a hard worker. Vincine is a strong mother, who always has a sunny and positive disposition. The mothers received monetary gifts, gift cards to stores and restaurants, a bag of relaxation items and a beautifully made candy bouquet. Sis. Rhoderica Washington, spoke powerfully from the topic: You Can Depend On God, But Can He Depend On You? Sis. Mintzy Lee sang soulfully about mothers and about the faithfulness of God. It was a super day, and love filled the sanctuary.
