A District judge has approved a warrant for the arrest of Roberto Lopez, 40 of Immokalee who sexually battered a juvenile under the age of 12. Authorities have not released the child’s age or other identifying information. The under 12 designation is per Florida Statute and designates the enhanced penalty associated with the charge.

Deputies believe he sexually battered a young child on Monday, October 14. Collier County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) has reached out to local agencies to assist. CCSO is also working with state and federal agencies.

Deputies learned of the crime after the child was brought to a hospital for injuries her family believed she sustained during a fall. Medical professionals who examined the child contacted deputies when they suspected a crime that was sexual in nature. The victim is safe and in the custody of the Florida Department of Children and Families.

Lopez has several aliases including: Rigoberto LopezVelasquez; Marco Velasquez; Mario Velasquez; Marcos VasquezPerez; Marcos Velasquez; Rigoberto Lopez; Pascual Lopez Garcia; Marcos Vasquez Perez and Marcos Perez Vasquez.
