Avow Hospice Programs win statewide recognition

Posted

Naples- Avow is the winner of the 2019 Synergy Award and the Program Innovation Award, presented by the Florida Hospice and Palliative Care Association. The awards were conferred at the association’s Hospice Works Forum, held May 30-31 in Orlando, Florida.

The Excellence in Program Innovation Award recognizes services and programs provided by a hospice organization that demonstrates the power of creativity and ingenuity in a program. The Avow Kids program offers support services to children who are grieving the loss of a parent, sibling, friend or relative through death, divorce/estrangement, deployment, deportation, incarceration and the loss of a pet. Avow Kids programs include day and overnight camps, family sessions, special activities for teens, book discussions, movies, and more.

The Synergy Award goes to the group that makes collaboration happen. This year, the Avow Hospice Extubation Task Force was honored for their work to develop and implement a compassionate extubation program for patients. After meeting with representatives from hospitals, transport companies, and pharmacy vendors to discuss how to transform the vision into a workable process, the task force identified the needs, established new agreements and provided training, resulting in a new process for extubation.

Avow was founded in 1983 as Collier County’s original, nonprofit hospice. Today, Avow’s companies care not only for those who are terminally ill, but also for those who have serious and chronic illnesses or who have suffered a significant loss.
