Community Rating System users group to hold general meeting

Posted

WEST PALM BEACH — On Thursday, Oct. 14, from 2 to 3 p.m., the Palm Beach County Community Rating System (CRS) Users Group will hold a virtual general meeting of its public and private sector membership. This meeting is open to the public via teleconference and WebEx due to COVID-19 precautions. Among the topics to be discussed is the Watershed Planning Initiative.

The Palm Beach County Public Safety Department’s Division of Emergency Management coordinates the CRS User Group and it is comprised of county, municipal and community partners. The goal is to prepare, promote and guide local flooding programs through the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the National Flood Insurance Program. The group serves to gather and share information for each CRS program and is intended to assist local governments in raising awareness about flood insurance, as well as new techniques to mitigate flooding issues before they occur.

The CRS identifies 19 activities through which credit is gained for instituting recommended best practices in the communities, which in turn lowers the cost of flood insurance premiums using the rating system classifications.

Meeting attendees can join via WebEx (Link) or by phone:
1-904-900-2303 or (toll-free) 1-844-621-3956
Meeting Number: 2300 711 0088

Meeting password: rqGYcumM744
