The Collier County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help finding the person or persons who slaughtered a horse near Immokalee, extracted the meat and left the remains behind.
Agriculture Unit deputies responded to a pasture off State Road 29 on Thursday after the remains of a horse were found.
Detectives said someone entered the fenced pasture sometime between noon Tuesday and 8 a.m. Thursday and led the horse to a neighboring pasture where they butchered the animal. Deputies said it appears the suspect or suspects were after the horse’s meat based upon the remains left at the scene.
