Naples – Florida SouthWestern State College’s (FSW) Collier Campus Nursing program received $405,000 for student scholarships from Naples donors Karl and Alice Sheffield.
The gift will be non-endowed and used to support financial need-based scholarships for Collier Campus nursing students admitted into the final two years of the Associate Degree in Nursing program. It is estimated that this initial gift will cover the financial need of 270 students beginning spring term 2020, with classes graduating in May 2020, December 2020, May 2021, December 2021, and May 2022.
“Thank you is not enough, but we are truly thankful to Karl and Alice Sheffield for their support in helping our students graduate with as little debt as possible,” said Dr. Jeff Allbritten, FSW president.
“As you go through life, sometimes you have the ability to give someone a handup,” Karl Sheffield said. “We’ve accumulated a little bit over our life from the help of others, and now we are passing that on. We hope these young people will pass it along to others when they are able.”
