Immokalee - On November 28, 2018 at 7:11 p.m., Florida Highway Patrol Troopers responded to a fatal traffic crash on Lake Trafford Road near Krystal Lane. A 2004 Mercury SUV was traveling east on Lake Trafford Road while Ms. Margarita Gonzalez, age 71 of Immokalee, was within the same eastbound lane, west of Krystal Lane. The front of the Mercury struck Ms. Gonzalez who sustained a fatal injury from the impact. The Mercury fled the scene but was later located and impounded from a nearby address.
A criminal traffic homicide investigation ensued resulting in the identification of a person of interest, Mr. Apolinar Perez Vasquez DOB of 9/12/1989. Mr. Vasquez is 5-6” to 5-8” in height, with a dark complexion and is known to frequent the fresh market area.
