Hit-and-run leaves one critically injured

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Geraldo Gariby, age 51, of Immokalee was riding his bicycle on Carson Road Extension just north of Lincoln Boulevard near Arrowhead Reserve when the passenger side mirror of a vehicle struck him around 1:47 a.m. on Sunday, January 7, 2018. Gariby was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. He was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital in critical condition. The vehicle was described as either a black Ford pickup truck or a small sport utility vehicle missing the right side mirror. The vehicle left the scene in an unknown direction. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Florida Highway Patrol at 239-938-1800.
