A Florida Highway Patrol trooper was parked stationary in the westbound paved emergency lane of I75 Alligator Alley at the 98 mile marker at approximately 8:44 am. A flatbed tow truck (Southwest Transport), was traveling WB in the right lane. The tow truck veered into the emergency lane, resulting in the right side of the tow truck sideswiping the entire left side of the FHP patrol car. After impact, the tow truck continued WB, uprooting a large portion of the guardrail. The tow truck came to final rest on the grass facing WB within the grass north side shoulder.
The FHP Trooper transported by EMS to a local area hospital. The crash remains under investigation.
