This year’s 4th annual Earth Day sponsored by the One by One Leadership Foundation and Immokalee Pioneer Museum will be held Saturday April 21st at the Immokalee Pioneer Museum at Roberts Ranch (1215 Roberts Ave W, Immokalee, FL 34142) from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. This year’s theme is “Immokalee My Home” and with the help of community partners, there will be activities and informative booths that will allow people to both learn how to take care of the environment and enjoy a day out with the family at Immokalee Pioneer Museum at Roberts Ranch. Pepper Ranch Preserve (6315 Pepper Rd, Immokalee, FL 34142 will be offering free guided hikes to explore Pepper Ranch Preserve’s tranquil nature trails while winding through the flatwoods, hammocks, and cypress of a working cattle ranch with a naturalist guide. Search the skies for visiting birds and the trails for signs of wildlife. Witness how fire shapes the landscape and learn to identify native plants. One hike will start at 11 a.m. and another one will start at 2 p.m. Pre-Registration is required for this free hike. Please visit: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/pepper-ranch- earth-day-free-guided-hikes-tickets-44812835397?aff=es2 to pre-register and contact staff at 239-252-2961 to identify which hike you have selected. Each hike will accommodate up to 20 persons. Special performances will also take place, iCo dance team will perform a special dance routine dedicated to Earth Day and Oficina da Capoeira will also make a stunning performance. Both of which were a big hit among the attendees at last year’s Earth Day. Just like the previous years, many local community organizations came out to represent their programs and set up activity and informative booths that the attendees enjoyed. There was samples of the special comeback of Taste of Immokalee’s seasonal orange cookies. As well as samples of their well-known, delicious salsa. Come out for family fun! There will be a variety of childrens activities, live performances, an art gallery made up of Immokalee’s very own students artwork and local food trucks will be selling some delicious food! You are welcomed to bring your lawn chairs and picnic blankets. Remember to mark your calendars and come join us for Earth Day!
