Village of Indiantown invests in infrastructure

Posted

INDIANTOWN -- In keeping with its ongoing commitment to community investment, the Indiantown Village Council recently prioritized multiple infrastructure projects for the upcoming fiscal year.

According to the Village report, the village staff annually assess community needs and “identify critical improvement areas.” Then prioritizing the needs specifies when they get addressed. During the past year, several studies were conducted to pinpoint the most critical projects on a community-wide basis.

A five-year plan was developed from the studies conducted, promoting six projects,  approximately totaling $2.1 million. According to the report, the plan focuses on strengthening the community and protecting the Village’s quality of life.

The funding for these projects was secured by the fiscal year 2022 general fund. However, the report said additional funds are expected from “grants to be executed at a later date.” The first year’s allocation is estimated at $351,000 and includes:

  • Drainage improvements - $100,000;
  • Roadway repairs - $25,000;
  • Big Mound Park improvements - $50,000;
  • Sidewalk repairs - $10,000;
  • Post Family Park improvements - $75,000;
  • Booker Park Sports Field improvements - $91,000.
