Leonard Vincent Steiert died April 7, 2023. He was born November 6, 1937 in Sarasota, Florida to Josef and Anna Steiert. Lenny grew up in San Antonio, Florida and was active in the Jaycees, served as City Marshal, and ran his own construction company prior to moving to Okeechobee. A resident of Okeechobee for 52 years, he was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. In 1971, he became a partner at Enrico Dairy and moved the family to Okeechobee to supervise the building of the new dairy farm. Mr. Steiert was a founding member of OCRA, responsible for bringing T-ball to Okeechobee. One of his greatest joys was coaching the Charles Harvey Colts football team with David Lowe for 5 winning and undefeated seasons. As an avid golfer, Lenny was a member of the Okeechobee Golf & Country Club for over 30 years. Lenny’s priorities were faith and family first, always. He was an extremely talented carpenter and stained glass creator, making many original, beautiful pieces for his family to cherish. Lenny will be remembered for his quick sense of humor and love of dashing or festive hats. Family gatherings brought him much joy and he valued greatly any and all time spent with his loved ones.Mr. Steiert was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Nancy Steiert; parents, Josef and Anna Steiert; brothers, Joseph (Dolores), Alfred (Gerry), Fred; sister, Frances.
He is survived by his daughter, Karen Matthews; sons Steve, Bobby (Kari), Joseph (Haja), Jimmy, Michael (Lonnie), 12 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and many beloved and cherished nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 15, 2023 at More 2 Life Ministries, 551 NE 39th Blvd, Okeechobee, FL 34972.
