Lilly Bass Church of God in Unity, Inc. awarded two students with a scholarship of $500.00 each during its 5th Annual Elder Rosetta Hooks Scholarship service.
The 2019 scholarship recipients are:
Fredrick A. Jackson is a graduate of Immokalee High school and is seeking a degree to become a Computer Analyst in the Multimedia Program. He faced many challenges during his years in high school, one being the passing of his mother this year. He made a promise to her and himself that he would graduate from High School. He wanted to enlist in the Armed Forces, but do to medical reasons could not enlist. He is also an active member of his church, where he regularly attends Sunday Church School. Fredrick will be attending Florida Southwestern State College.
Tajha Ilerant is a graduate from Immokalee High School and is seeking a degree in Culinary Arts and Hospitality & Tourism which will lead to fulfilling her dream of being employed by Disney. Tajha is very much involved in her church Youth Dept. and is an U.S. Youth Ambassador for Special Olympics International which helped her to find new strategies to deal with her learning disability. As an Ambassador she travels the world speaking about the importance of including people with disabilities. She also was chosen as SWFL Special Olympics 2019 Female Athlete of the Year. She will forever live behind the words “Everyone was Made to Matter”. Tajha will be attending iTech then transferring to University of Central Florida.
