Collier County Public Schools reminds parents that Florida law states that children must meet current immunization requirements before they can be admitted to or attend Florida schools. Individual schools sent notices home last spring advising parents of immunizations their children require before the start of school.
IMPORTANT
• Students entering or repeating seventh grade must have documentation of what is called a “Tdap” booster, which protects against whooping cough, diphtheria and tetanus.
• All students in grades 7-12 must have documentation of a “Tdap” booster.
• Children entering kindergarten must have a fifth dose of polio vaccine if the fourth dose was given before the child’s fourth birthday.
Parents of students who received immunizations during the summer should bring their child’s updated Florida Certificate of Immunization form to the school office BEFORE school begins on August 17. Those who still need to receive immunizations should contact their private physicians as soon as possible to ensure that the child will be in compliance with state and local requirements. The Florida Department of Health provides school-age immunizations free of charge, on a walk-in basis at their locations in Naples (252-8595) and Immokalee (252-7300). Both locations are open M-F 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Students who do not have all required immunizations will not be permitted to attend school.
Immunization requirements for the 2015-2016 school year can be found on the school district’s web site www.collierschools.com under “District News” and on the Health Services site in English, Spanish, and Creole.
