On October 22, the Florida Highway Patrol, with assistance from the Collier County Sheriff’s Office, conducted Operation P.E.D.S. (Pedestrian Education and Developing Safety details) on Main Street in Immokalee from 7:30 am til 10:00 am. The purpose was to decrease the amount of injuries and deaths through an education detail in an area prone to pedestrian and bicyclist involved crashes. Troopers interacted with the community and distributed educational flyers, pedestrian reflective vest, bike lights, backpack lights, sunglasses and other safety material to those in need.
