Students First -Exceptional Student Education

As part of Sharing the Commitment, Collier County Public Schools (CCPS) will hold two Exceptional Student Education (ESE) Expos. These free events are a great opportunity to learn about community resources available for students with disabilities.

The first ESE Expo will be held right here in Immokalee on Wednesday, November 13, 2019, at Immokalee High School (701 Immokalee Drive) from 5:00-7:30 p.m. Parents will be able to connect with professionals and discover the many local resources available for preschool through high school transition-aged students with disabilities. Local providers and community agencies will be on hand to speak with parents and students about recreational and vocational activities, educational supports, respite, advocacy, disability awareness, and much more.

Some of the community organizations on site include Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD), Easter Seals, Florida Diagnostic & Learning Resources Systems (FDLRS), Lighthouse of Collier, Naples Botanical Gardens, Naples Players KidzAct, National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), Reading Rescue, South Florida Parent Center, Special Olympics, Vocational Rehabilitation, and more.

Guests will also be able to learn about CCPS programs that may support their child’s future, such as Pre-Kindergarten, Unified Champion Schools, and Transition Work Study programs.

We encourage those interested to stop by any time during the ESE Expo to visit with community partners. Should you not be able to attend the event in Immokalee, you’ll have another opportunity on Wednesday, January 22, 2020, at Gulf Coast High School (7878 Shark Way, Naples).
