Lake Trafford Elementary (LTE) has a new face on campus—Sarah Woofter! Woofter is excited to be back in an elementary school working with students, teachers, and families. She’ll be serving the school as an Assistant Principal.
“I look forward to working with Mrs. Alvarez (Principal), Mrs. Galloway (Assistant Principal), and the fantastic staff to continue the positive culture and academic momentum that has been created at Lake Trafford.”
Woofter has already been out visiting classrooms and observing the amazing teaching and learning that goes on at the school all day, every day. “Just the other morning, I was eating breakfast with a table of first graders. In addition to hearing all about their families and pets, they took turns introducing themselves. They assured me that they would be quizzing me on all their names soon, so I have had my homework assigned to me just like our students!”
Originally from Ohio, Woofter has been with Collier County Public Schools for almost 17 years. She and her husband moved from Ohio to Naples to pursue their careers in education. Woofter taught fifth grade at Sabal Palm Elementary before taking a position as a Teacher on Special Assignment in the Elementary Math Department. After serving in that role for two years, she moved to Coordinator of School Improvement. Woofter then had the pleasure of working as an Assistant Principal at Avalon Elementary before returning to the District office as the Coordinator of Elementary Math, Director of Curriculum and Instruction, and then, Director of Strategic Planning and District Initiatives. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership. She is also in the final year of earning her doctoral degree in Educational Leadership at Florida Gulf Coast University.
“Since Sarah and I have had the opportunity to work together previous to Lake Trafford, I know the high caliber of professionalism Sarah presents,” shares Principal Joy Alvarez. “I couldn’t be more pleased to have her join us at LTE because I know she is dedicated to moving students to a higher achievement. Not only does Mrs. Woofter add a wealth of varied experiences and knowledge to our LTE family, but she is also very personable and loves children. She’s really the whole package, and we are so fortunate she has chosen to join LTE.”
