BELLE GLADE — On Wednesday, April 28, The Glades Initiative provided free produce boxes to area residents in a drive-through distribution in Belle Glade. The produce boxes contained fresh, locally-grown food sourced and packaged by Obern Farms in Clewiston and generously donated by U.S. Sugar.
“We are grateful to the farmers and people of U.S. Sugar for their generous donation of fresh produce,” said Karis Engle, president & CEO of The Glades Initiative. Our area is blessed to have the support of farmers that grow food for millions of Americans every single day.
“With our annual harvest season beginning to wind down, the people of U.S. Sugar want to provide our local residents in need of food with some of the freshest, most sustainably grown food grown by local farmers,” said Brannan Thomas, U.S. Sugar’s community relations manager. “Serving our communities is an important part of our company’s mission.”
