In recognition of Earth Day, the Collier County Board of Commissioners and Collier Area Transit (CAT) are promoting Try Transit Day, April 13, to raise awareness of the CAT system while supporting environmental protection. CAT will offer free rides on all fixed-route buses on Saturday, April 13.

Try Transit Day is intended to encourage residents and visitors to use public transit. The use of public transit helps reduce traffic congestion, reduce energy consumption, improve air quality and promote health and physical fitness.

Transit riders can take advantage of free rides on Saturday at any bus stop or transfer station throughout Collier County on all 19 routes. Download the MyStop app or go to www.goCATbus.com and click on the real-time route link to plan your trip.

There are several Earth Day events taking place on April 13 that passengers can access using the CAT system. Take the route noted to get to the following Earth Day events:

• Immokalee Pioneer Museum at Roberts Ranch, “Recycling in Immokalee”- Take route 23

• Conservancy of SW Florida, Earth Day Festival - Take routes 13, 14 or 25
