INDIANTOWN – Warfield Elementary celebrated Florida City Government Week with members of the Village Council on Thursday and Friday, Oct. 21 & 22. Mayor Jackie Clarke and council members Janet Hernandez and Susan Gibbs-Thomas welcomed students Thursday morning. While Vice Mayor Anthony Dowling and council member Susan Gibbs-Thomas were on hand Friday morning in the student drop-off zone, opening car doors and greeting families in the carline.
Florida City Government Week, held annually in Oct., is an opportunity for cities across the state to "celebrate, showcase and engage citizens" in the workings of local government. According to the Florida League of Cities (FLC) website, 2021 marks the 30th anniversary of the celebration. It has brought awareness to the local government's role in the lives of thousands of Florida residents.
Martin County School District expressed their sentiment for Indiantown's governing body in a written statement: "We appreciate the Village Council for their commitment to our Indiantown Schools."
