OKEECHOBEE — On Sept. 24, the Okeechobee County Board of Commissioners presented a proclamation to Capt. Ryan Hathaway, of Okeechobee County Fire Rescue, in recognition of 2020 Fire Prevention Week. This year’s theme is: “Serve Up Fire Safety in the Kitchen.” This theme effectively serves to educate the public on cooking hazards, the dangers of unattended cooking, and precautions citizens can take to prevent cooking-related fires. Okeechobee County’s first responders are dedicated to reducing the occurrence of home fires and home fire injuries through prevention and protection education.
