A special thank you from the parents of Brian Barret

Posted

Because we cannot thank each and every one of you individually, this thank-you goes out to all of Okeechobee for the outpouring of love and support shown to us during this time of sadness due to the tragic loss of our son Brian.

The 600+ people who came to Brian’s “Celebration of Life” at Buxton Funeral Home was a testament to what Brian meant to this community. He was a man who anyone would be proud to call son.

Brian’s “duck hunting buddies” became gifts that Brian gave us to keep his memory alive and help us stay strong. We love each and every one of you guys!

Special thanks to Buxtons, Eli’s Western Wear and Trailer Sales, the Durrance family, Fran and Cary McKee and so many others.

Thank you, Jess Manson, for putting what was in your heart into words at Brian’s “Celebration of Life.” Your words touched the hearts of many others.

Thank you, John Wilcox, for leading Brian to our Lord and savior during what would be his last quail hunt.

Thank you daughter Kristi who was our rock and voice of reason when our lives were going off the rails. Rafe, Latt and Case kept her from derailing as well.

Thank you to Ken Kenworthy and school board members of the Okeechobee County School System, which includes all those individuals employed by the school system. If we have not thanked you individually, we will make sure to do so the next time we meet at Walmart!

So many others to thank, from the First Baptist Church for the use of The ROC, to Danny and Holly Shefield and many school board personnel who cooked, brought food, used their skill over the bar-b-que grill, served and cleaned up afterward, and on and on and on!!

Our sincere thanks to all our closest friends not mentioned by name in this printed page — you know we love you all.

Keep Brian’s immediate family, sons Seth, Kyle and wife Heather in your prayers as they move forward in their lives without Brian.

Thanks again, Okeechobee, for the life you give to all who live here.

letter to the editor, opinion, brian barrett
