Agriculture Disaster Declaration includes lake area counties

WASHINGTON D.C. -- As a result of the cold weather earlier this year, USDA reviewed the Loss Assessment Reports and determined that there were sufficient production losses to warrant a Secretarial Natural Disaster Designation, with 17 Florida counties as primary natural disaster areas. In accordance with section 321(a) of the Consolidated Farm and Rural Development Act, additional areas are named as contiguous disaster counties.

The primary natural disaster areas include: Broward, Hardee Indian River, Okeechobee, Polk, Collier, Hendry, Manatee, Osceola, St. Lucie, DeSoto, Highlands, Martin, Palm Beach, Sarasota, Glades and Hillsborough counties.

Programs available under this declaration include the Noninsured Crop Disaster Assistance Program, the Tree Assistance Program, Emergency Farm Loans and the Livestock Indemnity Program. For more information go to https://www.fsa.usda.gov/programs-and-services/disaster-assistance-program/index
