April Showers Baby Shower Rains Gifts for Okeechobee Families

Posted

JENSEN BEACH — Helping People Succeed is coordinating a month-long “Baby Shower,” during April asking for “baby necessities” to be collected for families in need.

“April Shower” boxes will be placed in businesses throughout Okeechobee County and will be collecting infant-type items such as developmental toys, baby clothing, rattles, books, diapers and wipes.

The items collected will directly benefit our children and families served through our Healthy Families program. Healthy Families offers support and services to families who may be experiencing stress in their lives that makes parenting more challenging. Services are offered through home visits with a Family Support Worker which may start before or shortly after the birth of a baby, and can continue until the child’s fifth birthday.

This outreach activity during the month of April allows the community to provide these much-needed items to our families. In many cases – the families who we serve may have not had a baby shower.

You can find an “April Shower” box and drop your items off at the following locations: Chamber of Commerce of Okeechobee County, Duran Jewelry, Freedom Ranch, Florida Community Health Center, Green Design, Stephens Chiropractic, Rock Solid Christian Academy, Mi Familia Mexican Restaurant, Okeechobee Fire Rescue Stations 1, 2 and 4 and the Pregnancy Center. A wish list and a list of these businesses, along with the addresses, can be found on our website at www.hpsfl.org.

April Showers will run through April 30. For more information or to make a contribution, please contact Glenna Parris at 772-320-0778 or gparris@hpsfl.org.
