His feast day is Oct. 4. St, Francis loved animals, spoke to them, and blessed them. He believed God cares for all of his creatures great and small.
Many church and faith communities worldwide offer animal blessing ceremonies each year in the month of October.
Our pets bless us with their presence, personality and companionship. Many people consider their pets to be members of their family.
Church of our Saviour Episcopal Church of Okeechobee sent Laura Murray to say a prayer. She is a vestry member, serves the church as crucifer, and is head of the acolyte ministry at the church.
Rev. Kay Mueller was out of town conducting a funeral.
The Taqueria Yanez food truck came with all of their great Mexican food.
This was a really nice afternoon event. The dogs got to meet each other and had treats. The adults and kids enjoyed talking to each other and seeing their dogs interact with others.
It was such a great event that organizers plan to do it again next year.
