Bicyclist killed in collision with motor vehicle

OKEECHOBEE — A 60-year-old Okeechobee man died Wednesday night, Oct. 28, as the result of injuries from a bicycle accident.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol report, the accident occurred at approximately 7 p.m.

The 60-year-old man was riding a bicycle eastbound on U.S. 441 near Southeast 50th Avenue when he reportedly lost control of his bicycle and hit the front fender of an eastbound sports utility vehicle. Both the SUV and the bicycle were in the right lane at the time of the accident. After the impact, the bicyclist fell onto the roadway.

The bicyclist was transported to Raulerson Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The accident is under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
