Man charged with battering his younger brother

Posted

OKEECHOBEE — A 26-year-old man was charged with battery by strangulation after reportedly choking his younger brother into unconsciousness.

According to the report made by Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Deputy Jeremiah Camino, Camino responded to a home on U.S. 441 Southeast after a call was made to 911 regarding a domestic dispute. When he arrived, he spoke with the mother of the victim, who told him her three sons got into a verbal argument which led to one of her sons passing out on the living room floor. She could give no details as she did not witness the fight.

EMS was called to the scene to care for the younger brother.

Camino spoke with the third brother, who said his older brother, Alonzo Green Jr., had become angry when their little brother started shooting his BB gun in the backyard. He said Green began yelling at the younger brother, grabbed the BB gun and started to choke him with it. The younger brother attempted to “tap out” letting his big brother know he was giving up, but his brother kept choking him until he passed out.

The younger brother was unconscious throughout Camino's interview with his brother and finally awoke about 15 minutes later. When he was alert enough to speak to Camino, he told him Green was swinging a shovel around but never hit them with it.

In addition to the battery by strangulation charge, Green was also charged with assault on the second brother. His bond was set at $5,500.
