Big Lake Athlete of the Week: Peyton Pelham

Posted

This week’s Big Lake Athlete of the Week is Glades Day’s Peyton Pelham for her performance with the Lady Gator volleyball squad during the Palm Beach Classic tournament on Sept. 24 and 25.

The Lady Gators won first place in the silver division at the tournament with victories over Sunset and Palm Beach Central. Glades Day beat Sunset 2-1 on Sept. 24, winning the first set 25-19, and third set 19-17.
In that game, Pelham led the Lady Gators in kills with 12. Defensively she had four solo blocks and received 21 serves.

In the next game on Sept. 25, the Lady Gators defeated Palm Beach Central 2-1, winning the first set 25-23 and third set 15-13. Peyton once again led the Lady Gators in scoring, with 17 kills against Palm Beach Central.

Peyton also leads the Lady Gators in kills for the season, with 190 kills so far. Those 190 kills make Pelham the seventh-leading scorer in the Lady Gators’ region, and 32nd in the state of Florida.

Glades Day is 10-8 as they head into the last quarter of their season. Coming up, they’ll face a slew of tough opponents, including Cardinal Newman and Santaluces, who they both lost to earlier in the year.
