Big O Tournament announces April winners

OKEECHOBEE — The “Big O Open” held its April 2021 Tournament, in Memory of Les Tory, launching out of Okee-Tantie with 21 teams participating in a nice day of friendly competition. The team of Val Osinski and Mike Surman placed first with a weight of 17.70 pounds.

• Bob DuPree and Dan Hinkelman placed second with a weight of 16.53 pounds and first Big Fish weighing 6.57 pounds.

• Wyatt Cannon and Trent Nelson placed third with a weight of 14.54 pounds.

• Justin Whidden and Willie Hall placed fourth with a weight of 13.06 pounds and second Big Fish weighing 5.85 pounds.

• Darren and Branden placed fifth with a weight of 12.58 pounds

• Jim Newell and Ragyn Mohney placed sixth with a weight of 11.29 pounds.

Cash prizes were awarded to first through fourth place and first Big Fish. Fifth and sixth place and second Big Fish received gift cards generously donated by our three local tackle shops - Okeechobee Fishing Headquarters, Garrards Bait & Tackle, and Fast Break. Thank you!

Future tournaments will be held the second Saturday of each month to begin at “Safe Light” with weigh-in at 1 p.m. at Okee-Tantie. The cost to participate is $50 per boat team (2 person) with 90% payout and the remaining 10% of this cost is donated to our local teen anglers club the Big O Teen Anglers.

Also note  our Wednesday evening  tournaments are held at Scott Driver Park. Tournament begins at 5 p.m. and ends at 8 p.m. The cost is $25 per boat (2 person) plus an optional $5 Big Fish pot.

 Flyers with additional information and tournament rules can be picked up at local tackle shops.
