OKEECHOBEE- The Okeechobee High School Brahman varsity baseball team closed out their regular season with three back-to-back wins ahead of the district playoffs.

The Brahmans beat Avon Park 12-4 on April 15, Lake Placid 4-0 on April 20, and Treasure Coast 8-4 on April 23.

Gavin Kindell got the start on the mound for the Brahmans against Avon Park, starting the game off with a three-up, three-down inning in the top of the first.

Kindell also helped kickstart Okeechobee’s scoring in the bottom of the second. With two outs on the board he doubled with a well hit ground ball to left field. Next, Jacob Hardy reached first after being hit by a pitch. Then Jayce Markham hit a laser to right field that scored the two Brahman base runners to put OHS up 5-0.

Braison Crews led the Brahmans in hits against Lake Placid with two. Both he and Enoch Busbin each had an RBI.

The Treasure Coast Titans rallied in the sixth inning to tie the game 4-4 when they hosted the Brahmans in the last regular season game. Okeechobee had been leading 4-1 up to that point but then the Titans scored one run on a passed ball and two more on a well hit double into center field.

Then, in the top of the seventh with two outs on the board, Mason Diefenbach hit a double and Raif Holmes and Busbin drew walks to load the bases. Next Kindell drew a walk that brought in Diefenbach to put Okeechobee up 5-4.

Holmes scored on a passed ball and, finally, Crews stuck the dagger in the Titans with a line drive double into center field to bring home Busbin and Kindell and give the Brahmans the 8-4 lead

Hardy closed the game out with a three up, three down bottom of the seventh to secure the Okeechobee win.
