OKEECHOBEE- The Okeechobee High School Brahman varsity baseball team’s offense was too much for the Avon Park Red Devils to handle on April 15.

The Brahmans won 12-4, with most of their runs coming in the first three innings.

Bryce Ward brought in two runs in the bottom of the first inning to put Okeechobee up 3-0. Jacob Hardy had scored on a passed ball one play before Ward’s two-RBI hit.

Gavin Kindell got the start on the mound for the Brahmans, starting the game off with a three-up, three-down inning in the top of the first.

Kindell would help kickstart Okeechobee’s scoring again in the bottom of the second. With two outs on the board he doubled with a well hit ground ball to left field. Next, Hardy reached first after being hit by a pitch. Then Jayce Markham hit a laser to right field that scored the two Brahman base runners to put OHS up 5-0.

Avon Park threatened their first rally in the top of the third when they finally got on the board to make the score 5-1, with only one out and two runners on base. But Hardy, Mason Diefenbach, and Enoch Busbin pulled off a double play to end the inning and limit the damage to only one run.

In the bottom of the third the Brahmans put the game out of reach, running through their order as they added five more runs to go up 10-1.

Busbin and Tucker Myers pitched in relief for Kindell in the later innings, with Busbin closing the game out with a spectacular diving catch in foul territory.

Next Okeechobee closes out their regular season on the road, traveling to take on the 10-6 Treasure Coast Titans at 4 p.m. on April 22.
