OKEECHOBEE- Careersource Heartland won the Leadership Award at the 2020 Okeechobee Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year Awards on March 10.

Overall five businesses were honored in five different categories by the chamber, which included Business Development, Leadership, Community, Entrepreneurship, and the MVP Award which was chosen by social media users.

In the Leadership category the Okeechobee Chamber of Commerce was looking to recognize a business or organization that has demonstrated how they have become a leading force in the community and how they plan to lead in the future.

“It really means a lot to us,” said Donna Doubleday, president of Careersource Heartland, after receiving the award. “Because we really, truly care about the community and enhancing it. Helping people get the training they need to get back to work.”

As the economy rebounds from the COVID-19 pandemic, Careersource Heartland has been on the front lines hosting job fairs and connecting job seekers with employers.

Before the Business of he Year Awards, Donna expressed that everyone at Careesource Heartland was both humbled and thrilled to have their work recognized

“Whether it’s providing excellent service to our community, or working with our business partners to find qualified people, we are truly honored to be one of the businesses considered,” Donna explained.
