OKEECHOBEE — Are you ready to talk fast, sharing some information? Thursday, July 29 at 5 p.m. the Chamber of Commerce will host our July After Hours at the Brown Cow Sweetery. Have you ever had the experience of speed dating? Well this will be a fun event where instead of speed dating, we will be speed networking! A great way for each of us to learn a little more about each person in attendance. We’ve had one other speed networking event back in February and it was great. So much was learned about each other. We will have cards made up with questions that you can use to ask of each person, or you can prepare them ahead of time, or just use whatever questions comes to mind as you meet them. Your choice, just make it fun and informative. We will be following CDC guidelines by social distancing. Don’t miss out on the fun, come join in the speed networking event! Be sure and bring your business cards and brochures. Looking forward to seeing you on the 29.

August Ribbon Cutting — Aug. 11 at noon, Hoskins, Turco, Lloyd and Lloyd is pleased to announce that their office is now fully open. Due to their new office opening last year in the middle of the pandemic, there was no opportunity for us to help them officially celebrate. The office was previously by appointment only and now open to the public. As a new business in town, they would like to invite you to join in their ribbon cutting celebration on Aug. 11 at noon at 1910 South Parrott Avenue. Light refreshments will be available.

Chamber Business of the Year Awards dinner — Grab your partner and plan to attend the Business of the Year Awards on Saturday, Oct. 23 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Downtown Venue. Yes, you read that correctly, the actual 2021 Business of the Year Awards Presentation will be held that evening. No, it’s not a typo. The BOYA Event has been transitioned to an evening event with networking, great food, a chance to dress up, and a ton of surprises along the way! Tickets go on sale Aug. 16! Mark your calendars now and be ready to reserve your table when the tickets go on sale.

Now that the date is set, it’s once again time to nominate your business for the Business of the Year Awards. Nominations began on Wednesday, July 7 and end on Friday, Aug. 6. For more information and application, please visit www.okeechobeebusiness.com.
