ORLANDO — At the summer conference of the Florida Court Clerks & Comptrollers (FCCC) on June 8, 2022, Okeechobee County Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller Jerald D. “Jerry“ Bryant was honored to be part of the graduation class of the 2020 New Clerk Academy (NCA). Bryant was one of 21 new clerk participants in the NCA elected in November 2020, which included several clerks from neighboring counties, including Tami Pearce Simmons of Glades County, Kimberly Barrineau of Hendry County, Jerome Kaszubowski of Highlands County, Michelle Miller of St. Lucie County, and Joseph Abruzzo of Palm Beach County.

“All newly elected clerks of court and comptrollers go through extensive trainings and certification programs to understand the complexities of our role and the issues we face,” said Manatee County clerk and comptroller and 2021-2022 FCCC President Angelina “Angel” Colonneso, Esq. The FCCC New Clerk Academy is an extensive certification program for newly elected circuit court clerks and county comptrollers. The 2020 NCA was a blended structure of learning featuring instruction through in-person and virtual sessions totaling 240 hours.
“Clerks of court and comptrollers have more than 1,000 statutory duties through which we provide our critical public services to residents. Collectively, we are deeply committed to learning and serving our communities, and New Clerk Academy is an essential part of ensuring the newly elected clerks and comptrollers are as prepared and educated as much as possible to succeed in their positions and serve their constituents,” said Citrus County Clerk of Court and Comptroller Angela Vick, who served as the chair of New Clerk Academy.

As a result of completing this extensive Florida Supreme Court approved program, Clerk Bryant has earned the designated title of Certified Florida Clerk and Comptroller (CFCC).

Clerk Bryant said, “It has been a rewarding experience to get to know my fellow clerks from all over the state and to learn and compare the challenges we all face in our respective offices. The positive relationships and friendships we have developed will be invaluable to us, both in our professional roles and our personal lives. I’m honored to be a part of this special group of public servants.”
