County commission to hear update on pandemic

OKEECHOBEE – The Florida Department of Health, Raulerson Hospital and the Okeechobee County Public Safety Department will provide updates on the COVID-19 pandemic at the Sept. 23, 2021 meeting of the Okeechobee County Commissioners.

The meeting starts at 2 p.m. and will be held in the Historic Okeechobee County Courthouse, 304 N.W. Second Street. It will be live online at: https://www.co.okeechobee.fl.us/

Other items on the agend include:

• The board will conduct a public hearing about special assessments to be placed on the tax roll.

• The board will hear a request from Martha’s House to designate the month of October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

• The Elks Lodge will request the use of the Agri-Civic Center for a community Halloween event.

• Shane Bryant and Blane Hersey will request permission to use metal detectors at Okee-Tantie and on other county property.
