OKEECHOBEE — A couple was charged with grand theft of a firearm, and dealing in stolen property after a handgun disappeared while they were visiting. Anjelica Miller, 23, and Bradley Rosser, 29, were arrested March 26 by Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Deputy Brady Rogers. Rosser was also charged with possession of a weapon or ammunition by a convicted felon.

According to a report made by Detective Dale LaFlam, Deputy Shane Bogner was dispatched to a residence in Gator RV Park on Feb. 15 after a man called to report a stolen firearm. The man said his Ruger was normally kept in a black case in his bedroom, but his wife discovered it missing early that morning. Three loaded magazines were also missing. He went on to say he believed Bradley Rosser and his girlfriend took the firearm and explained he had issues with Rosser taking things in the past. He said the couple were both heavy drug users.

Rosser and Miller had been staying in the complainant’s home but were asked to leave. He added that Rosser had recently been released from a North Carolina prison.

As LaFlam investigated, he found no indication the gun had been pawned.

On Feb. 22, Deputy Ashley Waskiewicz investigated a disturbance at Big Water RV Park. Two families in the park had an altercation, and Daniel Garland was arrested after reportedly firing a gun at the ground in an attempt to intimidate his neighbor. When dispatch ran the serial number of the gun used in that altercation, it turned out to be the gun stolen on Feb. 15.

In March, a witness told deputies he heard the gun was purchased from “a guy named Brad.” Garland reportedly told deputies the seller’s girlfriend warned “Brad” his father would be mad if he sold it. Another witness told deputies he was present when the gun was sold and identified Rosser and Miller as the sellers.

Rosser’s bond was set at $22,500, and Miller’s bond was set at $7,500.
