David A. Daniel Foundation Fishing Tournament was a huge success

OKEECHOBEE — The Big O Teen Anglers and Okeechobee High School Bass Club presented the second annual David A. Daniel Foundation Fishing Tournament on Jan. 21. and  it was a huge success.

Many anglers from near and far participated, with first place anglers being Kyle Carr and Brian Stavropoulos with 20.41 pounds, and second place going to Kyle and Larry Powers with 16.75 pounds. Congratulations also go to third place anglers Bobby Dupree and Dan Hinkelman with 15.03 pounds and fourth place to Dan and Mary Barr with 14.70 pounds, followed by fifth place anglers Karl Zainitzer and Jamie Stephens with 14.48 pounds.

The “Big Fish” accolade went to Dan and Mary Barr for a bass weighing 7.58 pounds while the second “Big Fish” honor went to to Kyle and Larry Powers for a bass weighing 5.98 pounds.

The foundation's appreciation goes out to all the anglers, and amazing donors who see the great opportunity the David A. Daniel Foundation privides to make a difference in the lives of  youth. These amazing donors include Canal Condo, Cam’s Mobile Marine Service; Everglades Equipment Group; AG 98 Trailer Sales; West End Milling Co. Quitman, GA; Southworth Fuel Solutions, Inc.; Diamond R Fertilizer; Lehman Auto Body Service Center; Yellowfin Builders State Licensed General Contractor; and Lake and Trail USA. Many thanks to all who gathered that day to enjoy the comradery, hamburgers and hotdogs provided by Garrard’s Tackle Shop and Okeechobee Fishing Headquarters plus cooked by Billy and Randy Ellerbee, and to those who donated to the 50/50 and many items raffled off to enhance the financial scholarships offered to our Okeechobee youth.

If you missed this wonderful gathering, please join the tournament next year to continue David’s legacy of helping others and making life better for the youth of Okeechobee.
