Deacon Kay Mueller named pastor in charge at Episcopal Church of Our Saviour

Posted

OKEECHOBEE — On May 30, The Rt. Rev. Bishop Gregory O. Brewer appointed Deacon Kay Mueller as pastor in charge of the Episcopal Church of Our Saviour in beautiful downtown Okeechobee. Deacon Kay was ordained as deacon on Sept. 9, 2017, and has served at the church since that time. Recently, her role changed to that of “transitional” Deacon as she discerns her call to the priesthood, permitting her to hold the role of Pastor in Charge.

This will mark the first time since the formation of church of Our Saviour in 1951 that a woman will be at the helm. The Episcopal Church has allowed the ordination of women clergy since 1976.

When asked about her vision for the church, Deacon Kay responded, “My personal mission statement is ‘One day at a time, working together in unity to glorify God and loving one another as Jesus loves us.’ That’s all we can do. It is my hope that our warm and welcoming church will continue to live that same mission. All are welcome to visit us anytime as we embark on this new journey.”

Church of Our Saviour is located at 200 N.W. Third Street. Service times are Sunday at 10:30 a.m. and Wednesday at 6 p.m. Both of these services are also available through Facebook Live at Church of Our Saviour, Okeechobee. Please call the Parish office at 863-763-4843 for any additional information.
