OKEECHOBEE -- Meet Detention Sergeant Deputy Sheriff Kevin Coleman, Detention Corporal Alton-Smith, Detention Deputy Sheriffs Greseth & Deputy Euienfeld (Sgt. Coleman not pictured)

On Sept. 8, 2021, an inmate with no prior implications to harm themselves tied a sheet around their neck and successfully hung themselves, almost causing a life to be lost.

Deputy Greseth was the first on the scene, summoned the shift for help, and jumped into action, attempting to hold the inmate up.
Sgt. Coleman, Corporal Smith, and Deputy Euienfeld were able to work together and get the sheet loosened from around the neck of the inmate, which allowed them to breathe again.

This team effort from start to end saved this young woman's life. For their efforts, they will all be awarded the Life Saving Award.
