Do you recognize this vehicle?

Posted

OKEECHOBEE — Today, November 11, 2022, at approximately 10:30 a.m., the Okeechobee City Police Department, received a call from a concerned parent in the 500 block of SW 19th Street, regarding a suspicious vehicle in the area. The mother stated her child was outside playing basketball when a newer, white in color, Chevrolet Malibu, stopped in front of the home and tried to convince the child to come to her. The driver is described as an older female, with gray hair. The female can be heard calling out to the child from the road.

Due to the quick thinking and stranger danger education provided to the child, he immediately ran inside and told his mother. The incident was captured through the home security system. Officers canvassed the area and issued an alert through jurisdiction and were unable to locate. Unfortunately, the camera did not capture the vehicles plate. If you recognize this vehicle, please contact the Okeechobee City Police Department at (863) 763-5521 or the Okeechobee Sheriff's Office at 863-763-3117 and reference city case #221111007.

This is a great reminder to parents, grandparents and caregivers to discuss with their children on what to do if a situation like this occurs.
