DOH-Okeechobee encourages back-to-school immunizations

OKEECHOBEE — Back-to-school time is around the corner. The Florida Department of Health in Okeechobee County is encouraging parents not to wait, and make sure their children’s immunizations are up to date now for the 2022-2023 school year. By ensuring your child is immunized now, you will beat the rush and increased wait times later.

Proof of certain immunizations, on a #680 form (Florida Certificate of Immunization), is required for school entry if your child is entering kindergarten, seventh grade or is moving to Florida from another state or country. More information is available here.

Parents are encouraged to visit their physician or medical provider for immunizations if possible. Those without a pediatrician, or those with questions, please call DOH-Okeechobee 863-462-5800 to schedule an appointment for their back-to-school vaccines. Please note, this year all DOH-Okeechobee immunizations will be by appointment only.

In addition to your pediatrician or DOH, your child can also receive their back-to-school immunizations at the local Federally Qualified Health Center clinic listed below.
Dr. Fred Brown Children’s Health Center, 2015 U.S. 441, Okeechobee. Please call for an appointment, 863-763-1951.
