OKEECHOBEE — With Christmas 2020 now a memory, are you ready to haul your Christmas tree to the curb?

Instead of leaving a fir, spruce or pine tree for the Waste Management truck to pick up, consider donating it to the animals at Arnold’s Wildlife Rehabiitation Center, 14895 N.W. 30th Terrace, Okeechobee.

Some of the animals at the center like to eat the trees. Others like to play with them. The big cats consider a fir tree a toy that can be shredded in a matter of minutes.

Do not donate trees that have been “flocked” with fake snow. The chemicals used for flocking can be toxic to the animals.

The center is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.
