OKEECHOBEE -- On the eighth day of South Florida Water Managment District's Everglades restoration series, they are looking at the Lakeside Ranch Stormwater Treatment Area (STA) Project in Martin County and the recent completion of the S-191A Pump Station in Okeechobee County. The STA and the S-191A Pump Station are key components of the Northern Everglades and Estuaries Protection Program, which will improve water quality in Lake Okeechobee. This project was completed in three phases and removes approximately 16 tons of phosphorus each year that would otherwise end up in Lake Okeechobee.
