As April 15th rolls around for another year, many are focused on income tax refunds or the rush to file and preparing for a family gathering for Easter after the Sunday morning church service. Children darting around in the yard playing hide and go seek, horseshoes, tag and corn hole as the aroma fills the air with the special meal for all to enjoy together. The one thing most certain, is all are participating: the giggling, telling jokes and laughter with their heads thrown back telling stories recalling a memory from days gone by.

Each year, April 15th comes and goes. No birthday cake, no candles to blow out, no family gathering. No games, no laughter, only memories, tears and sorrow loom over the family. Each family member, the siblings of Robin Arnold-Flynn: LV, Sandy, Josephine, Tim and Rachel; her beautiful, now adult children: Sara, William, Elizabeth and Christopher hold to the memories of the years gone by without their sister and mother. All wondering how a daughter, a sister, a mother, an aunt; such a humble, fun loving person could deserve to have her life taken; snuffed from her family and the community without a word, without an explanation, no remorse, without a conscience.

Around Christmas 1998, Robin disappeared after being seen in Okeechobee. Robin seemingly was swallowed up by the city streets, the pastures that loom with no eyes, the waters that run deep, only rumors that people whisper and pass from one to another, not knowing that what they are speaking, the rumors, could be the link that is needed to put Robin at rest with her parents that have passed; the rumor that could bring closure to Robin’s family. No matter how small of a detail, how irrelevant; if it weighs on your heart or crosses your mind then consider this something that may be a missing part to the puzzle or maybe the final piece of the puzzle to give Robin the ability to find rest at last. If you knew Robin, think back and remember Robin as she would want you to remember her. She loved to walk, wave as folks passed by and she knew everyone. Robin was not a fighter but a compassionate kind old soul. She just wanted to live simple and be a mother to her children. Let Robin live in your memory this week. Pray that this could stimulate a thought that would allow the family to place Robin at rest.
