OKEECHOBEE- Former Okeechobee High School Brahman and University of Florida pitcher Jonathan Crawford is offering pitching lessons on weekends to local kids.

Crawford pitched for the Brahmans while attending high school in Okeechobee, before graduating and attending the University of Florida.

At UF, he pitched for the Gators’ baseball team. In 2012 he threw a no-hitter against Bethune-Cookman, the first for the Gators in over 20 years.  He was drafted in the first round of the 2013 Major League Baseball draft by the Detroit Tigers. He’s gone on to play for the Cincinnati Reds and the Highpoint Rockers in the independent league.

Jonathon and his brother, Kutter Crawford, were recently recognized by the Board of Okeechobee County Commissioners for their achievements in baseball.

Kutter Crawford played baseball at Florida Gulf Coast University after graduating from OHS. He was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the sixteenth round in 2017. After spending time in the minor leagues, Kutter was promoted to the Red Sox roster in the 2022 season.

During the Dec. 8 BOCC meeting, both the Crawfords were presented with proclamations in recognition of their academic and professional baseball careers.

“You make us proud in Okeechobee,” said Board Chairman David E. Hazellief after the proclamation. “I can tell you that sports channels are getting complaints from my wife your game isn’t on TV.”

Jonathan is giving pitching lessons on Saturdays. Those interested can email him at  jonathancraw@yahoo.com for availability and time.
