Fugitive captured in Okeechobee

Posted

OKEECHOBEE -- On Dec. 21, the United States Marshal's Service was contacted by the Avoyelles Parish County Sheriff’s Office (Louisiana), regarding an arrest warrant for Travis Ryan. Ryan was wanted for one count of sexual battery on a person under 13 and seven counts of indecent behavior with juveniles under 13.

Ryan’s arrest warrant was signed in December 2020; Ryan was aware of his warrant and was actively fleeing prosecution.

On the evening of Dec. 22, at the request of the Louisiana Task Force, the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Apprehension Unit, working with the US Marshals Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force began a local investigation into Ryan’s location. Through investigative means, Ryan’s employer was located in Okeechobee County. Task Force Members arrived on scene and learned he was scheduled to arrive in approximately 30 minutes. Task Force members devised a plan to take Ryan into custody safely due to the crowded location. Ryan arrived at work and was quickly taken into custody without incident.

Travis Ryan was arrested and transported to the Okeechobee County Jail where he will await extradition back to Louisiana.
