OKEECHOBEE — A pair of local veterans had an altercation with a door-to-door salesperson and discovered their golf cart missing the following morning.
“I know it’s only an assumption,” said Steve Lynn, “but it sure is a coincidence if it’s not related.”
Lynn and his wife are both disabled veterans and recently relocated to Okeechobee. They have a small trailer in a 55+ community in the Taylor Creek area, where solicitation is not permitted. On Saturday, a door-to-door salesman in a white van visited the park, and when the Lynns told him to leave, they said he became angry and told them he would come into the park any time he wanted and do anything he wanted and warned them to beware.
When they woke up the next morning, they discovered their golf cart was missing.
Because they had a death in the family immediately after purchasing the golf cart and had to travel for several weeks, they did not have time to get insurance on it yet. This leaves them with 48 payments left to make on a golf cart they no longer have in their possession.
They are asking anyone with information to please call the Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office. A $500 reward is being offered for information leading to the golf cart’s return.
