OKEECHOBEE — The Okeechobee Historical Society was honored to host Brad Phares as their featured speaker at its October meeting. Phares, who is an eighth-generation rancher as well as a very creative person, recently released a video presentation entitled “Crooked and Clear,” an homage to the Kissimmee River and its impact on the community. In his poem he speaks on the history of the river, its channelization and its restoration. The presentation quite touched the members. Brad has this video posted on his FaceBook page if anyone would like to view this inspirational media project. [Courtesy photo]
